Please read this file carefully because it contains a lot of information on how
to get the most out of Millennium.

Millennium is a utility for transferring samples and programs from and to AKAI
S2000 or S3000XL. It's free and the source code is also freely available.

A Quick guide:

In the memory-view window:

F2           = Rename sampler/program/multi
F5           = Refresh from sampler
DEL          = Delete program/sample
INS          = Duplicate program
Double-click = Edit sample or program
Enter = Programs: open keygroup editor
               Samples: open using associated sample editor
CTRL+Enter = Programs: open program editor

In the keyspan editor:
INS          = Duplicate keygroup
DEL          = Delete keygroup
Adjust the key mapping by dragging it using the mouse.
Change the sample by clicking on the sample name.

Millennium does -not- work on Adaptec 1505 or 1515 cards. If you have one of these
cards, please download http://rpgfan.impact.nl.com/y2kdbg.zip. This is a version of
Millennium that will write out a debuglog.txt file. If you could mail me this file
it might be of help to solve the problem of why Millennium doesn't work.

You can associate your favorite sample editor with Millennium in the File->Settings
menu. After you've set the association you can double-click on a sample to
edit it using the sample editor. After you're done, save the sample in the editor and
then click 'ok' and Millennium will send the modified sample back into the sampler.

Double-clicking on a program file will invoke the keygroup editor. The program-editor
has been disabled for the time being.

Dragging files into the window will only download those files. ('individual')
Starting the program with a file specified will download that file and all
associated files.

Multi files store the entire state of the sampler (except support for effects
board has not been added yet). This means it loads all the programs, samples
and multi information that was in your sampler when you saved the multi.

Running Millennium and MESA at the same time might cause problems.

The 'Details' view on Millennium can be useful for assigning the right program number
to programs etc. but receiving the extra information from the sampler can take a couple
of seconds, depending on how many different samples and programs you have in your sampler.

When the 'Combine Stereo pairs' is on, Millennium will assume all samples that end in -R or
-L will be one part of a stereo sample, and if the other part exists it will display it as
one item. You can recognize them, because they will have a different icon in front of their name.
Wether the 'combine stereo pairs' option is on or off, when you save one half of
a pair, Millennium will automatically combine them into a stereo sample. If the samples
aren't meant to be paired and have different sizes or parameters, data will be lost. The same
is true for editing stereo samples by clicking on them. The properties dialog for stereo
samples is not available at the moment.

In order to automatically recognize stereo samples when loading in a program, the file format
for programs has changed. Millennium can still load the old (MESA compatible .prg) file format
but it will write out a new file format containing more information about the program. This
file cannot be read back by MESA, so if you want to one if millennium's programs into MESA,
do it via the sampler.

Try coping a link to Millennium into your \windows\sendto directory. You will
be able to right-click on files and send them to your sampler using 'send to->
millennium'. Note that you can only send up to a certain amount of files like this
in one go. This is a limitation of windows.

The tuning settings in the WAV file sort of work with CoolEdit 96's pitch
auto-detecting, except there is a bug in cooledit. After clickin on 'auto-detect'
you might get a value like 0.12. Change this to 12. Similarly if you get 99.70 it
should be 70. Sometimes it doesn't save the information either. Apart from that
it's quite easy and accurate for tuning instruments.
