The ‘Elektrisch Kafe’ (‘Electric Cafe’) is a night we organize in the Paraplufabriek, in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, where the crowd can enjoy experimental (electronic) music, video art and various performances for free. The previous six editions showcased a lot of different talented artists, producers and VJ’s coming from all over the Netherlands.
The two labels from Nijmegen that initiated the night, Shipwrec (
http://www.shipwrec.org) and Lomechanik (
http://www.lomechanik.com) proudly present the ‘Elektrisch Kafe LP’. A compilation on vinyl that showcases 8 different solo artists and 1 duo, who all previously played on the nights. With this limited, numbered edition (300 copies), Elektrisch Kafe aims to present a lasting document of these first series of nights and show its face to the world. The sleeve is manually silk-screen printed with a glow-in-the-dark light bulb (the logo of the initiative), and comes with a large-scale poster designed by graphic designers ‘Atelier 152’ (
http://www.a152.nl/) - showing the inventors of the electric light in a design also featuring a glow-in-the-dark layer. The flip side of the poster is filled to present 5 visual designers who participated in Elektrisch Kafe.
