Elexorien was a Dutch metal band from Groningen, Netherlands, active from 2004 to 2011. Formed initially as Tearful Dawn by guitarist/vocalist Lainedil, keyboardist Grimbert, bassist Liza Hoek, and drummer Joris Nijenhuis, they rebranded to Elexorien in 2005, inspired by a fantasy sword from artist Kit Rae's "Swords of the Ancients" series. The name change came after just three gigs under the old moniker. They described their sound as "Epic Battle Metal," blending power and viking metal with symphonic folk, black, and death metal influences, featuring harsh growls, classically trained female clean vocals, and themes of battles and Tolkien lore.
In 2005, vocalist Iné "The Crusher" Zijlstra and guitarist Ronald "Wolve" Lukken joined, rounding out the lineup. They released a promo demo, Rising of the Storm, that year and supported acts like Ensiferum and Korpiklaani. Their self-titled debut album dropped in 2007 via Trollzorn/SMP Records, earning praise for its gothic-tinged power metal vibe. Lineup shifts followed: Drummer Joris left in 2008 (replaced by Merlijn Poolman), and Iné departed in 2009 (replaced by Lotte in 2010). They released a live DVD, Hard as Iron, in 2008 and planned an EP, For Those Who Remain, but disbanded on May 20, 2011, before completing more projects. The band had ties to German group Kromlek, dubbing their friendship the "Kromlexorien pact."
Though short-lived, Elexorien's music remains available on platforms like YouTube, where fans can stream their full album or watch live clips from gigs as late as 2010. No reunions or new activity have surfaced since their split, damn.
