Er is wat nieuws over de actieviteiten van Tidal.
Ze hadden een paar jaar geleden al de Step-one sequencer aangekondigd en al een foto van een prototype laten zien.
Helaas door de drukte om het Quad filter is de Step-one nog niet productie klaar, maar er zijn al een hele hoop veranderingen doorgevoerd.
Theo is heel open op de Analogue Heaven mailing list.
In zijn mail zegt ie ongeveer het volgende. Er zijn veel functies bij gekomen, omdat er veel vraag is naar extra functionaliteit die momenteel niet voorhanden is in andere sequencer. Ik hoop dat hij hierbij denkt aan de Notron achtige sequencers. Free sequencers, niet 1-16 steps... free! Maar goed. Ik weet niet of tidal dat implementeerd. Doordat er meer functies ontstaan zijn, is niet alles meer heel handig te vinden dus het formaat van de Step One is van 3 units naar 5 units gegaan. De LEDs zijn veranderd in een LCD. 7 extra knoppen en de layout van de knoppen is veranderd. Op de Musik Messe zullen we meer info krijgen.

Hi Hans and others interested,
The Step One was announced way too early,
on top of the all kind of both technical and financial disaster hampered the
project.
The first Tidal product to come out is the QUAD filter.
At the moment I am busy building the first series of QUADs.
(and therefore at home soldering and not at the NAMM)
(BTW NAMM goers can ask herr Schneider for more info about the QUAD, he is
with the JoMoX stuff)
The next big Tidal thing will be the Step One.
However...
Over the last 2 years a lot of changes have been made to the Step One.
As functions kept being added the ergonomics of the Step One went from OK
to, well not so OK.
Therefore "some" changes to the hardware have been made.
What I have at the moment does no longer look like what is shown on the
site.
- The Step One has grown from 3U to 5U.
- The 7 segment LED display is now a LCD.
- There are more (7) knobs to twist.
- The layout of the buttons has changed.
And functionally the Step One has out grown the limited features listed at
the site
For now I am not gona tell you guys ant more though...
The website needs a update, but for now soldering QUADs has more priority.
Still stay tuned, we will be "leaking" info about the Step One as the Musik
Messe approaches.
