Sony MXP2900 broadcast-mixer

Te koop: Sony MXP2900 broadcast-mixer.
Geheel modulaire mixer met daarin de volgende modules (broodjes):
12 X mono kanaal
12 X stereo kanaal
4 X sub group
1 X master
1 X monitor section
1 X talkback en sine/noise section
1 X compressor strip met 4 compressors
Externe voeding, 600 watt, +/- 25kg zwaar.
Alle in en outputs zijn transformer balanced.

Ik doe deze mixer weg (met pijn in mijn hart) omdat ik er binnenkort geen ruimte meer voor heb. Ik heb hem 6 jaar geleden overgenomen van het NOB waar hij is onderhouden door Sony. Ze vertelde me daar dat ie destijds (+/- 1993) rond de 80.000 gulden had gekost. Zal wel inclusief servicecontract zijn geweest maar toch....
De modules zijn wel zeer mooi gemaakt met alleen maar toponderdelen b.v nichicon condensatoren, dbx2151 VCA's in elk kanaal, overal transformers, discrete summing opamps, etc, etc. Je krijgt er een zeer uitgebreide handleiding bij met daarin alle schema's en zeer veel technische info.
Omdat dit een broadcast-mixer is zitten er veel functies op die je waarschijnlijk niet zal gebruiken in een normale studio.
M'n vorige mixer was een mackie en het verschil in klank was echt enorm. Deze mixer klinkt veel aangenamer , de (3 bands met mid sweep) EQ is zeer muziekaal, je krijgt hem niet schel zoals bij mackie. Compressors zijn ook zeer bruikbaar.
Kortom, echt een hele stoere mixer.
Deze mixer is af te halen in Den Haag voor 1500 euro zonder bon, of voor 1500 euro ex btw MET bon. Hij is +/- 100kg maar de broodjes kunnen er uit zodat hij wat handelbaarder word.

Any returns?

4 X mono return located on the group modules. Can be routed to groups & or master and shares an EQ with the group module.

EQ on the channel strips?

EQ on all channel strips (mono and stereo) and on groups (swithable between return and group). EQ is a three band: low @ high shelf, and mid with sweep. It's a very simple, non chirurgical, but VERY musical EQ. It really sound nice, not harsh or cruel.

Any scratchy pots / faders?

No

How old is the desk?

aproximately 15 years old

Compressors only assignable to the groups, or to any channel?

Compressors can be assigend to all channels, groups and master.
It's a VCA desk so no audio is actually routed to the compressors, only a side chain signal. VCA's can be bypassed on the master and on the groups.

Direct outs? Inserts?

Direct outs on all channels & groups. All transformer balanced.
Inserts are only on mono channels and on groups. Not on the master.
Inserts are not balanced.

General condition of the desk?

Pretty good although switches might need some cleaning due to the desk not beeing used for about 6 months. Everything works. No scratchy pots or fader garanteed. 1 channel has no caps or damaged caps on the pots.

Since this is a broadcast desk it has some functions you might never use, like fader start and the possibility to connect an editor interface and what not.
Every module has a zlilion jumpers which might be used to change the internal routing, insert point, direct output signal and so on. That part of the desk is very, very comprehensinve.
It also lacks some things you might use in a studio situation, like a more extensive EQ and more aux sends.
All in all it's a very cool desk, espacially as summing desk. It has a very nice meter bridge with a clock and a speaker in it. Meters are very high quality Sifam, real VU meters. The compressors are a real bonus and the EQ is very good for broad tone shaping.
Bottom line...I can't think of any other desk this size which has transformer balance in and outputs that only costs 1500 euro. kfhkh
