Moog MP-201 Multi-Pedal

Moog has a brand new foot controller pedal that can basically control everything. The MP-201 can act as a controller for the DAW or software synth or effects plug-in on your computer, MIDI synths and effects, and analog synths and effects. It can even control your free spirits, hippies. MP-201 + Phish Concert = World Domination. I've said too much.

Anyway, after you erase that last thought from your memory, the MP-201 has four analog outputs, MIDI I/O, and USB connectivity. With the four analog CV outputs, each output can be individually programmed.

Different modes on the MP-201 allow you to operate the pedal in several ways. Single Channel Mode, the simplest of modes, uses the footswitch to select programs or channels, turn channels on or off, and control tap tempo.

Switch to Quad Channel Mode, and the four footswitches on and off while using the built-on expression pedal. Preset Mode defines user editable presets, and logically Edit Mode programs the presets in Preset Mode. Finally, Utilities Mode allows for users to perform operations such as restoring factory presets, upgrading firmware, and calibration.

on topic : zo'n pedal moest al veel langer bestaan. grappig dat ze zoiets nu pas hebben/kunnen ontwikkel(d)(en).

ik gebruik voor deze doeleinden een multivox met 4x sequencer in zich die desgewenst hz/ volt / cv gate uitgeeft
en dus cv uitstooit wat weer in mn moog / rolands cs 30 / korgs past

nontimed
dat doe ik met een gate eruit afstellen met bv een delay fx

werkt een ....mmm half uurtje haha

Mijn favoriete pedaal krijgt binnenkort een firmware update met o.a. de volgende opties toegevoegd :

Tap tempo working on all channels in all modes

"one button at a time" (Quad Mono) mode fully working

can send program changes one channel at a time now (when you turn on each channel it sends its own program change if you want) -- perfect for Quad Mono mode

Can set Quad Mode as the default so the unit boots up into Quad Mode

Can send MIDI Notes from Gate channels

I just finished implementing per-channel MIDI notes to Pitch-CV... with pitch-bend!

You can adjust the CV scale on each channel independently, to get all your stuff playing in tune... does true 14-bit pitch bend which you can set from 1-12 semitones... and it uses the CV scale per channel so all pitch bends will be in tune with each other, even across multiple VCOs that are not calibrated to each other! So, you can play an MF-102 and MF-107 oscillator via CV from a MIDI keyboard at the same time, and have them track each other, even pitch bend them both in unison! That is the idea, anyway...

Lots more good stuff but this is a big one. You also get any combination of MIDI note to Gate-CV channels, which can be set to Legato or Retrigger.

Also, I implemented the feature RAH requested... you can now set any channel to output only MIDI, only CV, or both... this is saved with your preset, so you can flip between MIDI presets and CV presets without unplugging any patch cords. Awesome!

So I think this is now in a class beyond the Kenton...

You can have 1 pitch-CV, one Gate, a Mod Wheel CV if you like, plus a freely-routable extra CV envelope...

Or all the CV to power a standard monosynth: Pitch, Gate, Filter envelope and Volume envelope! Just add your own VCO and VCF. I haven't tried it yet but I think you could build a minimalist monosynth using only the MP201, a FreqBox and MF-101 lowpass! I'll have to work out the details.

Certainly it is now easy to add a perfectly-tracking third (or fourth) VCO to your Little Phatty or Voyager, or a pitch-perfect tracking ring modulator (with modulation envelope)... The possibilities are pretty extreme.
