Item: G-SSL (SSL bus compressor clone) - version with orig 1979 dBX202c VCAs
Description: hi chaps, got a G-SSL stereo bus compressor for sale. it was built late 2008. working, tested.
its a "super side-chain" version, adding the following:
API-style THRUST Filter (SM/SL),
external sidechain (EXT) with 1/4" jack at the back
HPF to sidechain with 7 frequencies (60, 90, 110, 130, 160, 200, 250Hz)
- electronically balanced, w XLRs. like the original.
- release has 4 settings plus program dependant auto-mode.
- 220V. its complete, except i decided to put no knobs on the pots, as the choice is
highly individual, i leave that to the end user.
- works fantastic on synths, drum bus, 2-bus. from transparent to ballsy
bigness - no nasal pumping. Peter Sedin, from AH list, and Nick Nimick from VSE, bought
one each from me.
- however what is different with this peticular GSSL is that it doesnt use the replacement THAT2180
amplifiers but the original dBX202c VCAs i.e. "Gold Cans" as found in the first bus comp within the 4000E console.
even tho the THAT version is nice and clear, i largely prefer this one, because it can stand much
bigger gain reduction levels, and then sound just gets bigger and beautifully glued, with silkiness in the highs.
a pair of 202c is arround 120 euro, hence the difference in asking price for this version compared to previous.
- additionally, even tho G-SSL usually don't have this, i have installed extra TRS jacks at the back, for unbalanced insert connection. however, i havent got arround to connecting wires to jacks, that bypass the balancing circuits. down the line, if need be you could connect this for insert operation.
My location: Unit is in my studio in Zagreb, Croatia.
Price: Price is 750 euro plus shipping and PayPal cost (or use the "money owed" option). i will also accept bank money wire (bank direkt i.e. swift).
- shipping costs to Sweden were about 30e for surface, 38e for airmail, shipping to US by air was aprox 80e )
- i'll dig out some box, and have packing materials arround from all the vintage crap i buy on AH and eBay.. so it will be well packed.
