Je bedoelt Tom Hooker? haha, hoe kreeg je die look ook alweer, met een borstel?
Trouwens is die clip best wel duur voor die tijd, zit netjes in elkaar

veel in een speedboot zitten met de kop in de wind
er gebeurd redelijk veel ja, al die figuranten moeten miljoenen lires hebben gekost
Die G.J. Lunghi is best wel apart. Zou nu nog kunnen scoren in een ander jasje. Vind dat overdreven gehaast nonchalant zingen erg geslaagd. Ik vraag me trouwens af wie eerder was, Gazebo of deze. Pianootje heeft wel heel wat I like Chopin in zich. Trouwens moet je eens op dicogs kijken, staan nu heel wat Italo's op. Je hoeft maar een bepaald label in te toetsen bijv. memory, baby, of time en de meesten staan erop.

maar was het niet zo dat voornamelijk de term rond die tijd werd uitgevonden?
voor zover ik weet is Italo (toen het nog geen Italo heette) ergens begonnen in 1978, het zal toen nog wat minder synthesizer achtig hebben geklonken al met al maar het waren wel veelal 'namaak platen' (van amerikaanse artiesten) speciaal voor de italiaanse markt... Pino D'angio is zo'n voorbeeld met een gejatte hook...
tegen 1988 was het eigenlijk min of meer wel bekeken met Italo toen House massaal zijn intrede deed...

Origins, 1976–1985
The entry of synthesizers and other electronic effects into the disco genre produced electronic dance music, including America's Hi-NRG and Europe's Space Disco. The latter received its name because of its odd synthetic sounds, sci-fi costumes, and space-related themes. Dancers and listeners experienced something new because the artists' use of new music-shaping technologies created the perception of being in a very large space and because of the discothèques' lighting displays. Italo Disco's influences were Italian producer Giorgio Moroder, French musician Didier Marouani, a couple of hits by the French drummer Cerrone, electropop (Telex, Devo, and Gary Numan), and the early Hi-NRG albums of San Francisco producer Patrick Cowley with such singers as Sylvester and Paul Parker.
By 1980, Italo appeared as a fully developed form in Italy and other parts of Europe. Songs were sometimes completely electronic and featured drum machines, catchy melodies, vocoders, overdubs, love-song lyrics sung in English often with heavy foreign accents, and, occasionally, nonsensical lyrics (due to artists' poor command of the English language). This because in many cases the use of English lyrics was mainly instrumental for obtaining the desired effect. To understand how this music sounded to Italian audience and probably to many non English speaking countries, you should listen to the instrumental version first, and then take in consideration the voice as something like an additional musical instrument, rather than something meant to deliver a message. Along with love, italo disco themes deal with robots and space, sometimes combining all three in songs including "Robot is Systematic" (1982) by 'Lectric Workers and "Spacer Woman"(1983) by Charlie. Italo Disco was widely played on radio stations and in discothèques in Europe, but in the English-speaking world, it was mostly an underground phenomenon that could be heard at night clubs.
1982 and 1983 saw the releases of the irony-laden "Dirty Talk," "Wonderful," and "The M.B.O. Theme," three tracks cited as influential in the development of house, by Klein & M.B.O., a side-project developed by Davide Piatto of the Italo disco duo N.O.I.A., with vocals by Piatto and Rossana Casale.
Many see 1983 as the height of Italo, with frequent hit singles and many labels starting up around this time. Such labels included American Disco, Crash, Merak, Sensation, and X-Energy. The popular label Disco Magic released more than thirty singles within the year. It was also the year that the term italo disco was reputedly coined by Bernhard Mikulski, the founder of ZYX Music (Germany), when ZYX released their first volume of "The Best of Italo Disco" series.

Gazebo was 1 jaar eerder... gebeurde wel vaker, bijv Wang Chung's Dance Hall Days en Silver Pozzoli's Around My Dream... eng gewoon die overeenkomst
tsja het blijft inderdaad moeilijk maar over het algemeen word '78 t/m '88 genomen als the Italo era...
voor mij was het hoogtepunt toch wel '83/'84... sowieso was '84 zo'n beetje HET beste jaar qua hits...

Bandolero (die ik destijds ook als single had) was nutuulk geen echte Italo maar heeft wel een paar geluiden in zich die zich daar mee associeren maar niet het arrangement... ik vind het een mengelmoes van vele stijlen... de bassline blijft idd erg lekker...
Ik had hem ook, later nog de maxi gekocht. Je had ook nog zoiets vergelijkbaars als Blanco Y Negro, maar kan die niet meer vinden. Bassline gaat meer de CHIC FUNK kant op.
