VOCODER CONVERSION
This low-cost optional upgrade kit converts DARKSTAR into a fully featured vocoder with 5 operating modes.
VOCODER mode, featuring 11-band filtering / noise generation, combines an external sound source with a vocal input to create classic vocoder sounds whilst Internal oscillator mode utilises the on-board oscillators and 'S' detector for true 'robotic' style vocoding. Filter mode can be used to process any stereo signal through the spectrum filter for special sound 'warping' effects, selectable MIDI envelope control making it ideal for guitars /bass/vocals etc as well as MIDI instruments.
Sequence-coder and Synthesizer modes use the 8-step formant sequencer to control the vocoder filters whilst processing the external sound or internal oscillators. Specific vocoder phrases can be recorded in step-time, each event being set-up by the 11-band frequency filter editor or alternatively, assigned one of 15 pre-set 'vowels' from the sound palette.
The installation kit comes complete with EPROM, chip removal tool, front panel overlay and manual.
