This pedal shines at giving the player a very dynamic blues or classic rock tones at your disposal, without being dependant on the amplifier to sound decent. The pedal does sound best into a driven tube amplifier though. Despite the name Metaldriver, it's not a pedal for modern over the top tones unless you have a higher gain amp like a Marshall already distorted & using this pedal to push it more, but it's not the best for that either if you lust for extreme tight crunch or chunk as this pedal give a bit of sag in the midbass that suite classic sounds better. I use a different pedal combination for the real heavy over the top sounds. For blusey classic rock overdrive tones, the Tokai Metaldriver Z-II is quie remarkable indeed!
