Live shows: Laptop Verzekering?

hello!

Sorry, i have to type this in english because my dutch isnt yet good enough (i can read it ok though )..

I've bought a fairly expensive dell laptop, i will be using regularly it to play live sets of my music at clubs in the netherlands (i live here) and abroad. i'll be getting paid for the shows.

I'm trying to find an appropriate insurance for the laptop to cover me against loss or damage while i'm out of my house.

Can anyone give advice, or recommend an appropriate insurance organisation? or even post some keywords that i could use to search for more relevant results than ive been getting?

Most companies like Dell and for example HP give standard pick up insurances (I have a 3 year insurance) and you can buy them at the same place where you bought the laptop, or directly from the company via internet

Your laptop will be (most of the times) coverd bij your home insurance, in Dutch it is called 'inboedelverzekering'. But only while the puter is in your house, not on gigs or anything like that.

Finding an insurance that covers also gigs and stuff is hard to find, otherwise too expensive.

Meestal hebben de organisatoren toch wel een evenmenten verzekering. Vraag of ze het willen afsluiten. Niet zo duur volgens mij.

bij de goeie organisators van feesten is de organisatie verantwoordelijk voor de verzekering van je apparatuur. Je geeft van te voren op welke apparatuur je gebruikt en wat de waarde daarvan is. Deze apparatuur wordt dan meegenomen in de totale verzekering die het evenement afsluit voor alle overige apparatuur.

Heeft mij (en volgens mij ook de organisatie) nog nooit iets gekost. Die verzekeringen gaan per duizenden euro's volgens mij. Een laptop erbij maakt dan niet zo'n verschil

Yes, i understood that most venues have their own insurance.

But sometimes i like to perform at low-key events organised by friends, who can't afford to arrange that kind of insurance. I'd like to be covered for these situations too.

How do other people approach it? do people just refuse to play at a venue if it doesnt have insurance for their equipment?

Also: if the laptop was damaged on the way to the venue, the venue wouldnt be liable then i'm sure.. so some kind of other insurance would be necessary i suppose (?)

Is there a company that insures gigging musicians equipement? i've looked around without any success so far (googling combinations of: muzikanten verzekering instrumenten optredens).

ik heb daar ook een keer naar gezocht. Zelf apparatuur verzekeren, ook als je onderweg bent, maar mijn ervaring is dat je de apparatuur of niet kan verzekeren, omdat de verzekering dat niet dekt, of ze een ontzettend hoog bedrag vragen dat niet in relatie staat tot de huidige waarde van de apparatuur die je wilt verzekeren. Probleem is namelijk dat het allemaal nogal diefstal gevoelige apparatuur is en dus hoog risico zijn. Ik heb besloten m'n apparatuur niet te verzekeren. De organisator zorgt dat de apparatuur op locatie verzekerd is. En ik doe gewoon voorzichtig onderweg en verlies m'n apparatuur geen seconde uit het oog als ik het vervoer.

Volgens mij dekt een kostbaarheden verzekering via de NTB (Nederlandse Toonkunstenaars Bond) dat wel.
