Hallo Audiofielen!

Ik ben aan het overwegen een presonus firepod te kopen. Ze schijnen mooie pre-ampjes te hebben. Heeft iemand ervaring met dit apparaat? Zijn de pre-amps echt zo mooi? En de drivers stabiel? Hoe zit het met latency? Ik kan een showmodel krijgen voor 650 euro. Goeie prijs/kwaliteit verhouding? Of zou ik nog alternatieven moeten overwegen?
Ik wil in ieder geval meerdere ins/outs, maar hoeft niet per se firewire te zijn. pci of usb is ook goed.

nog geen eraring ermee maar als ik ooit het geld ervoor heb dan schakel ik zeker over! Presonus schijnt erg goed te klinken. Reviews zijn erg lovend. Overigens hebben ze een net nieuwe interface uit die min of meer de opvolger wordt van deze interface. Meer adat etc. Ik zou die even afwachten (of met deze je kans grijpen als zo overjarig raken)

Ik heb de fireBOX en die klinkt goed, draait stabiel en snel.

•ATI RADEON 9000/9001 IGP video chipset. Symptoms are consistent clicks and pops during audio playback. This video chipset is only found in PC laptops and is entirely integrated as the computer’s only video controller. We strongly recommend that you do not get a system with this chipset, as there is currently no workaround for this incompatibility.

• USB/firewire and s400/s800 combo cards are not compatible. Symptoms are usually no audio recording/playback but device will install and sync, erratic audio performance and rarely will not allow the device to install or sync. We recommend a firewire card that ONLY has s400 firewire connections and preferably with a Texas Instruments or VIA chipset.

• Firewire cards with NEC chipsets are not compatible. Symptoms are similar or the same as combo cards.


• NOTE: brand new PC's from major manufacturers are often loaded with software that is not needed to produce audio and will actually hinder system's performance. It is absolutely vital to your system’s performance to disable or uninstall all unnecessary software when working with audio interfaces and applications. It is best to have a dedicated audio system on which you have only installed the applications you intend on using. "

Aangezien mijn Firepod waarschijnlijk volgende week binnenkomt, zou ik graag een PCI Firewire-kaartje gaan aanschaffen. Staat er op de verpakking welke chipset er op de kaart zit, of is er een andere manier om te zien of er een TI-chipset op de kaart zit?

Zou ook tof zijn als iemand zou kunnen vermelden waar ik de TI-chipset kaart kan aanschaffen...
