Well I hate to but I need to let one or two of my modulars go and raise some cash. I just dropped a boatload of money into my studio and where vintage synth prices seem to be high, they're nothing compared to pro audio gear. Ouch! After a recent move I decided not to continue with a 7th incarnation of a home studio and instead, lease a space, build walls, get a real console, wire tt patchbays, etc so...
...here are a few of modulars i'm thinking of selling/trading:
Moog 15 - 100% working & 100% original. It was the model with the fixed filterbank. Cosmetically, the faceplates are in wonderful shape but the tolex on case & keyboard have seen better days. If the buyer wanted to replace the tolex at some point in the future, it would look pretty new but it never bothered me. All functions work as they should and this one sounds huge, like a herd of elephants. There was a bit of scratchiness in 2 of the pots and the 2 switches in the VCA when I got it but went away with a little working back and forth. Comes with keyboard. I believe there were only between 100-150 of these made and honestly, the last 3 or 4 i've seen for sale were either modified or put together with similar modules in a p cabinet, this 15 is all original. Ideally, i'd like to trade for cash and a small rack of modules like of
course the 904 lfp, an osc bank incl 921, and maybe a vca so that I can still have this sound which nothing else can really
duplicate. If anyone has any of these modules for sale, please contact me. Even if you don't want to trade towards the 15, I can purchase them from you after I sell mine. According to prices i've seen lately, the modules alone are going for about $7k if I broke it up but I don't want to do that. Feel free to make an an offer.
Fenix - I've been on the fence about selling this one for a while. I absolutely love it but over the last year, i've been moving in a mini jack direction so it hasn't been getting the attention that my other stuff gets just for ease of patching reasons. Again, i'm not really hot on the idea of selling it but I know there are a ton of people out there just waiting for one of these to pop up so if the price were right or an interesting trade comes along... I guess, make me an offer on this thing. Its one of the original 25 made and in great shape, just a few tiny surface scratches on the sides from rack mounting, mainly due to its larger than standard rack size. I also have a spare PSU and back panel for parts.
ARP2500 (#1) - OK, I have two different systems but will only be selling one. I guess I'll sell which ever one I get the most attractive offer on. System one is of course the big mutha, the "close encounters" movie prop. It has quite a bit of history and i'm pretty sure it was the last one built and out of the factory doors. It was put together with the remaining modules at the arp factory for a movie prop in 76' when the more cost effective 2600 was very popular and 2500 sales were way down. VP Phillip Dodds went to set up the beast and ended up getting the role of operator in the movie, even had a line if I remember right. Anyway, after the movie, it was bought by lucasfilm and it was used at skywalker ranch for sound design and it was surely used on some great movies between the years of 77-85, i'd bet serious money that it showed up somewhere in the fx track of one or two of the star wars trilogy. Anyway, this is a wood main cabinet with split keyboard (2 oct black keys monophonic on bottom and 3oct white keys duophonic on top) and 2 portable tolex wings. All 24 module slots are loaded and I may even dig up a spare. A good amount of the modules have been repaired and / or calibrated by phil (CMS) when i got it and are stlll working great. A few may be in need of calibration again but I have all the calibration procedures and some other docs. 100% working and all slider caps present! I don't have an exact module list yet but it will include about everything made for it, including double sequencers, mix sequencer, a voice module, tons of osc / filters / EGs / etc. As far as price, yes i'm looking for a boatload
of money to help pay for my new console :-) so ebay is probably where i'll end up but I thought i'd check here first for offers. Any collectors out there? Come on, you know you want to. You won't find a better working or nicer looking 2500 and this thing is just dripping with vibe!
ARP2500 (#2) The other option is a single wing cabinet (wood sides) that has been modified by phil cirocco with all silver wiring, 2 new PSUs, and a tweak to get rid of most of the x-talk in the matrix switches. I have enough modules to pretty much lay it out to the buyers needs within reason and module choice will affect the price. For instance a mix sequencer or a voice module is considerably more than a filter, osc, or EG. If interested, let me know what kind of modules you'd like in a wing cabinet and i'll let you know a price. It's kind of like custom ordering a 2500 wing in 2003!
Again, I really just want to sell 1 or 2 of these babies. Well, don't want to but need to so the offers I get will determine which ones stay and go. Please be patient if it takes me a little while to make a decision but I'll try to answer emails as promptly as possible. Oh, all synths are in LA. As far as trades go, other than the moog modules I listed above, i'm really just looking for a few pro audio pieces like a stereo compressor along the lines of a manley vari-mu, and some good mono compressors and eqs as well. Also an SPX990, TC electronics D-two, and an eventide eclipse.
