New TM-D4000 Digital Recording Console from Tascam
January 28, 1999 -- TASCAM, the world’s largest manufacturer of recording equipment and accessories, is proud to introduce the TM-D4000 Digital Recording Console at the NAMM Convention, held from January 28 to 31 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Booth W1015. Priced at just $4299, this dynamic console, designed for post production, project studio and home recording environments, joins the TM-D8000 and TM-D1000 in creating the most dynamic digital product line in the industry.
“The TM-D4000 is a significant milestone for the audio industry,” says Karl Moet, product training manager for TASCAM. “The feature set and price point for this product are unmatched and will definitely enjoy broad market acceptance. The TM-D4000 enhances our entire line of digital consoles.”
The TM-D4000 offers the end-user a flexible, yet extremely powerful recording and mixing console based on TASCAM’s pinnacle technology employed on the larger TM-D8000 console. The unit has 32 mono and 2 stereo inputs, feeding 8 buses. The input section features 6 aux sends, 4-band EQ and full dynamics on each channel.
Professional style 100mm motorized faders are utilized for the 32 mono inputs (addressable 16 at a time), the stereo inputs and the console master fader. Three expansion slots are available for 8-channel audio I/O on channels nine through 32 supporting TDIF-1, ADAT, AES/EBU or analog sources.
The console includes full-featured machine control with jog/shuttle dial and record function switches and the ability to address surround sound panning via buses one through six. Advanced 24-bit AD/DA converters service analog I/Os, with 24-bit DA converters employed on the stereo master outputs and monitor outputs. The 320x240 large LCD display incorporates four rotary encoders for simple parameter control.
The TM-D4000 offers cascading I/O capabilities for system expansion, on-board stereo digital effects, full MIDI implementation, a library function for EQ, dynamics and snapshot for console settings. A Graphic User Interface (GUI) and dynamic automation are available through an external, Windows®-based host computer.
