"Hi All, I’m sorry that I have to convey the following:

From my home in Edinburgh, Scotland, I spoke with Mike Brown in California.

Mike asked me to put some words together on his behalf to explain the position and predicament he is in.

I have been good friends with Mike for some 2-3 years or so and we have shared good communications and plenty of laughs- we have been over there and he has been over here. Mike, as you all know, is an ardent enthusiast of analogue synths and the designer of the Livewire range.

Getting to the point- Mike is currently in hospital. For some time, he has been complaining of feeling sick and physically ill. In the very recent times- he has found it impossible to do his work effectively. Sensing something very wrong- he had a medical that included a barium meal to determine radioactively what may be the unseen cause of the problem. Shortly after he had the Barium meal- the medics decided that he required an immediate operation to examine/remove what appears to a growth. Doctors, upon examination, decided that full surgery of this growth was not an option- so Mike now finds himself facing some time of chemo/radio therapy to bring the growth down.

This all sounds pretty bad. He will certainly be incapacitated for the near future as he goes through this process. Currently, I am advised that his good friend Steve R and others who worked with Mike on previous Livewire gear, are already making the necessary steps to finalise the production of the AFG modules that you are all waiting on. What this means is that those who have ordered this stuff may have to patient for a little while as they get the works happening.

Let’s all wish Mike the best throughout this time- and wish those that are working on your AFGs the best- these guys are knowledgeable and reliable- so give them time. It looks like people working on the stuff will come together around July the 20th ‘08.

Kind Regards, Ken MacBeth."

En weer een mailtje

thanks Ken....

thank you everyone for your well wishes and support to Mike.

As Ken mentioned in his message - a handful of us are banding together
to get these modules into your hands.

It's our intention to get as many units out by Aug 1 without
compromising Mike's "near obsessive" build standards.

Everyone involved in this effort has been part of previous Livewire
builds at one time or another. We're the same people that built your
Dual Cyclotrons, Frequensteiners, Daleks, Vulcans and Dual Bisell
Generators between Feb 2006 through June 2007.

The following update is for this newsgroup only and I would ask that
it not be crossposted elsewhere.

To date:

Approximately 40 modules are complete, waiting for calibration and
their faceplates to be attached.

The remaining modules are in assembly having PCB's stuffed.
Their faceplates will be attached at the assembly plant.

The process of having the faceplates attached may be delayed depending
on how soon they can be delivered after we resume building the weekend
of 7/20 (they also require Mike's signature).

I'm going to be 100% up front and tell all of you that NO PROGRESS
will be made on your modules any earlier than 7/20. Each of us needed
to fulfill previous commitments before convening on this project.

If any of you wish to have a more personal dialogue regarding your
module you can email me directly at my Livewire address:

r=@=livewire-synthesizers=.=com

At the least, send me an email telling me what number you are on the
list.

I won't be able to post to this group on a regular basis until after
7/18, but I will respond to any email message sent. If the Livewire
address doesn't work - you're welcome to email me at my personal
address (r=@=rtopia=.=net)

thanks in advance for your patience....

Steve R

Laatste nieuws quote:

good news/bad news...

good news:

units 81 - 160 have been assembled/tested/calibrated and are on their
way to Analogue Haven as soon as I hit the submit button.

Delivery of Phase 1 is almost done.

However I'm sorry to report the following exceptions (or bad news):

1. units for other dealers aren't complete yet
Out of respect for those dealers I will provide ETA's etc as soon as I
establish contact (they deserve the news first).
I will say this:

"we're not talking about months"

2. the following units failed testing and I'm having them shipped to
my shop in Clevland (next day air) for a quick turn around:

"5, 20, 21, 86, 101, 120, 123, 131, 137"

They had very minor issues that would normally be corrected on the
spot - however - with the limited time I had on the ground in LA, I
decided it was more important to get through the entire stack first
rather than delay any "working out of the box" unit from being delivered.

I apologize to Shawn and anyone affected by this delay

3. Lastly - units 141 - 160 haven't been knobbed. I'm going to beg
Shawn and his crew for forgiveness and hope they won't mind adding the
knobs for us prior to shipment.

I realize this is bad form for a manufacturer.
As mentioned earlier - I didn't want to delay the delivery.

In closing - I personally guarantee your satisfaction with the AFG.
If there's anything wrong with your unit - please notify the dealer
(in this case Analog Haven) and Livewire will work with them to
correct the situation.

I appreciate everyone's patience and I look forward to hearing a world
of noise from these units : )

Special thanks to my "last mile build crew":

Herb "knobs" Grimaud
Anthony "tap and press" Grimaud
Richie "Boom Boom" Mendez
Raelene Rightnour

honorable mention to Tim Johnston for coming down and punching some
faceplates to help with the effort
