Programming Analogue Synths, free to download from Access Music
Access Music Electronics GmbH, the company behind the Virus Synthesizer series, have released a free 132-page synth-programming tutorial written by Howard Scarr. The book, entitled Programming Analogue Synths, contains hundreds of tips and tricks for programming an (virtual) analogue synthesizer, covering both vintage synth and acoustic instrument emulation. Although the tutorial is mainly aimed at Virus users, it will be a welcome resource for interested synth programmers, with information on subtractive synthesis, the workings of the classic synths and the use of effects. The guide can be downloaded free of charge in PDF format from www.access-music.de; a printed version will appear later in the year.
