Ik heb de demos eens beluisterd en ik ben erg onder de indruk

zou ik met zebra alles kunnen wat je met ace kan? qua routing moet dat zowieso kunnen, maar gebruiken de zebra en ace verschillende algoritmes en zou ik uiteindelijk toch op verschillende geluiden uitkomen?

ik ben nl erg onder de indruk

gebruikt zebra zoveel van je processor als ACE? want die vreet echt wel processor power

Ze gebruiken andere algoritmes.
Voor zover ik weet is het grote verschil audiomodulatie. De LFO's kunnen een lekker snelle frequentie hebben. De CPU vreet zoveel door het feit dat er serieus wat oversampling nodig is om al die audiomodulatie te verkrijgen zonder aliasing.

Zebra gebruikt minder CPU. Zeer leuk om te experimenteren vind ik de combfilters in Zebra.

In plaats van ze te beluisteren kin je ook de demo's testen, dacht ik.

heb ik al gedaan, zebra vond ik indrukwekkend qua mogelijkheden, maar op het eerste zicht leek het me of ace wat vetter klonk - alhoewel dat mits wat programmeren ook uit zebra moet te halen zijn

Hier een veklaring van de developer waarom hij zoveel CPU vreet (en verschilt van Zebra)

What's bought by ACE's cpu load is the fun that is patching anything into anything else. No more no less. The only thing you can currently buy that delivers the same experience (at an even lower pain level, to be fair) IMHO is the Cwejman semi modular synth, or a fully loaded module rack plus a giant bank of multiples and VCAs. And this doesn't do supersaw either, at a much higher cost of ACE + PC.

Answering a previous post, the quality settings are indeed mostly about oversampling, but also about evaluating frequency modulation (LFO/VCO/VCF frequency, including cross modulation) only every single or sixteenth sample, as compared to e.g. 4 times a sample. Everything else is still evaluated on a 1:1 basis.

Zebra has a much wider palette of sounds than any of the new ones. There are however sounds that Zebra can't reproduce, which are often based on extremely fast modulations.

ACE and Bazille on the other hand may be rather constrained in possibilities (compared to Zebra, that is) but they may draw some attention because they excell especially in the category of extremely fast modulations. These fast modulations are bought by an enormous hunger for cpu load.

So well, you'll have to see yourself. What speaks for Zebra is always its flexibility and sound quality for relatively low cpu usage. ACE and Bazille on the other hand deliver raw and uncompromised fun, but you can't even play a chord sometimes...
