EML ELECTROCOMP MODEL 101 ANALOG SEMI MODULAR SYNTHESIZER

For auction is a very rare 1970's vintage analog synthesizer: The EML Electrocomp Model 101. This machine was a runner up in the early synthesizer market competing with the MiniMoog and the ARP 2600. All are great synths, but each has it's own merits.
The EML 101 is an amazing sounding Analog monster. It is semi-modular with hard wired internal routing, which can be re-routed through the patch bay at the top.
It has 4 oscillators, Oscillator 1 being an LFO and Oscillator 4 can be switched between an LFO or changed up into the audio range. Oscillators 2 and 3 are in the audio range and with the right setting can be played as a duo-phonic voice on the 44-note keyboard. In addition Oscillator 2 and 3 are can crossfade through different wave forms giving it a unique sound when tweaking the knobs.
If you ever wanted one of these, this is the best time. No import duties and way less for shipping.
A hand full of EML 101 synths have been showing up on EBAY U.S. But with import and shipping they are turn out to be very expensive.

In addition it has:
12dB/oct VCF
VCA/ Ring Modulator
2 ADS Envelopes
Sample and hold with its own clock
Mic preamp
Keyboard Control section (allowing multiple equally tempered scales between 12-60 key per octave)

This unit works and sounds amazing. Great for Sound design or for analog bliss. Fantastic for the stage or in the studio. I can't say enough how deep and warm the low end is on this synth and what amazing sounds one can attain.

All knobs function properly, the only pot that might need to be cleaned is the AMP Shaper (master volume). At some point someone (EML I believe, there is a partial service sticker from 1978 on the back) made a small modification and put in a 5-pin audio output. By doing so they took out the power light and moved the power switch so that when the unit is switched to "ON" it is off. Switch the power toggle up and its really ON. Also the case is missing a couple of latches (easy to find on EBAY) and has sustained a few knicks and knocks, which can be seen in the photos. The keyboard works fine but could use a clean and maybe leveled out with some new bushings.
