SSL Duende goes NATIVE!!!!????

The legacy DSP based Duende hardware products are no longer manufactured and optional plug-ins for Duende hardware systems have been withdrawn from sale.
 
Why Go Native?

It is in the nature of technology development that users expect a never ending upward spiral of more power and ever more sophisticated products. SSL plug-ins are sophisticated and power hungry and at the time when Duende DSP launched, computer processors did not have the power required to run them. At the time, the additional DSP in Duende hardware provided a solution. In the last two years the balance has shifted; as users expect even bigger, more powerful systems it is the limitations of the Firewire bus and other internal computer bus architecture which imposes limits to the complexity and number of plug-in instances available. Processor manufacturers continue to develop ever bigger, faster multi-core devices which deliver more than enough power for most users already and look set to continue to stay ahead of demand. SSL does still use DSP extensively within our large scale Digital Consoles, particularly for broadcast where 512 audio channels are not uncommon… but most project studio DAW users do not need this much power. We believe that the future of project studio DAW processing is native so Duende Native marks a strategic change of development strategy to reflect this view. All future development for Duende will be Native.

ik zeg ook effe yay! eindelijk demos checken van shizzl waar je vroegah HW voor nodig had.
ben wel bang dat ik mn compu mag gaan upgraden bij veelvuldig gebruik.

ik hoop daarom dan ook dat UAD nog effe wacht :)
 
SW blijft natuurlijk een emulatie, dus misschien heb je de HW nog steeds wel nodig ;)

Ik was net op zoek naar een externe dsp kaart en mijn oog was dus gevallen op de ssl duende classic..

Ik heb een mooie "custom-build" muziek pc van Teach-Music van een jaartje oud, dus qua capaciteit zit het pc-wise wel snor..

Maar toch merk ik dat ik (voornamelijk bij het afmixen) dat ik mijn cpu metertje in het rood gaat (ligt aan mij hoor, al had ik het dubbele ter beschikking, dan nog) dus het leek me een passende oplossing om de duende aan te schaffen..

Maar nu maak ik op dat het achterhaald is omdat de computers steeds sneller worden etcetc. Maar ...toch heb ik het idee dat het nog steeds een goede aanschaf zou zijn. SSL op een extern apparaat, zodat je je cpu (hoe veel dan ook) vrij hebt voor de rest.

Of is het mss juist wel een idee om er nog 1 aan te schaffen, volgens mij kun je indien je een hardware ssl duende hebt ook gratis native erbij krijgen, dus dat zou btekenen gebruik op 2 stations?

Iemand advies?

Ja dat klopt, althans wat Jim heeft gezegd. Als je Duende Hardware hebt krijg je de native plugs gratis en kan je die op een andere machine gebruiken.

Zal dus wel op de NAMM 2011 gepresenteerd/aangekondigd worden...
 
Ik las op GearSlutz dat alle Duende hardware owners gratis de native versies van de plugins krijgen?!? Dit zou betekenen dat je bijv. de native plugins kan gebruiken op computer1 en de hardware op computer2 (of gewoon de hardware verkopen als je de plugins hebt ontvangen=gratis plugins?!). Hoe zou SSL dit precies doen?
