Geconfronteerd met financiële verliezen en zware concurrentie heeft softwaremaker Sonic Foundry besloten zijn desktopsoftwaretitels voor $18 miljoen te verkopen aan Sony Pictures Digital, zo meldt PC World. Sonic Foundry staat bekend om zijn audio- en videosoftware, en bij de verkoop zijn de titels Acid, Vegas en het bekende geluidsbewerkingsprogramma Sound Forge van eigenaar gewisseld. Sony Pictures Digital werkte eerder met Sonic Foundry samen bij het ontwikkelen van Sony's Screenblast audio- en videobewerkingsprogramma's. Sonic Foundry gaat zich nu richten op web-based presentatie- en databasesoftware:
Sonic Foundry will continue operations, focusing on Web-based, rich-media presentation and database software, says Rimas Buinevicius, chair and chief executive officer of Sonic Foundry.
