Onderwerp: Question regarding the Dark Energy circuit characteristics
Hi Dieter,
Recently a discussion has started on the Dutch Synthforum
regarding creating kicks with the Dark Energy. To be more
specific the discussion is about an issue with the attack in the
kickdrums; it actually varies a lot when playing a loop with a DE
kick. As 4 out of 4 DE users confirm this, my conclusion is that
this is part of the design of the DE. I'm not sure, but as
described in the forum thread I would suspect it has something to
do with the oscillator waves not resetting with every trigger.
Could you kindly clarify if this true?
Best regards,
Dennis
Ps. You can find more info and some audio examples the forum

Betreff: RE: Question regarding the Dark Energy circuit characteristics
Just did a little research by a sort of simulating the DE patch
with A100 modules. First result: varies a lot. Syncing the 110
with an A155 trigger: much tighter! So this seems to ratify my
theory. I couldn't find anything in the technical information
regarding this, but is there anyway to mod the DE with a sync in?
Thanks again,
Dennis

Subject: AW: Question regarding the Dark Energy circuit characteristics
Dennis,
the VCO of the Dark Energy has no reset or sync feature. It runs completely
independent from the gate or ADSR. This explains why the sound changes if
the atteck/decay time is very short (i.e. in the same range as the VCO
period). The reset/sync is available only for A-100 modules. A fixed reset
or sync would have some disadvantages because there would be an audible
click if a long decay/release time is chosen or the sustain is not zero
(because the VCO is heard while the reset happens).
Best regards
