This is my Transcendent 2000. It is a true analogue monosynth of 1978. Designed by Tim Orr, it was originally published in ETI in July and August of '78 and in the October and November issues of the German Elrad. Later it was sold as a kit by Powertran Cybernetics.
Pete Forrester's (A-Z of analogue Synthesis) description:
"Designed by Tim Orr, ex of EMS, and eventually of AKAI, so its not surprising that it's quite a good synth, despite having only one VCO. A full ADSR for the VCA, including a repeat switch, AD for the VCF, noise, sample and hold, and a state variable VCF, which could produce bandpass as well as lowpass filtering (12db) are all worth having on any synth, and the VCO waveform can be swept from sawtooth to triangle, as well as square to pulse. In all, 22 control knobs."
From that, it sounds kinda like a 101, but ive used a 101 before, and id certainly doesn’t sound the same. The main bonus of the transcendent is how you can route modulation sources. And not forgetting the bandpass filter.
For some reason the lfo is not mentioned in the above section, but its there all the same.
Its 1v/octave, so the same as Roland and virtually everything else there, but the gate is a somewhat awkward -15 (ish) volt.
Mine is in pretty nice cosmetic shape, even more so when you consider its age, which is, hmmm... coming up to 25 years now (easy for me to work out as my birthday was in july '7
The woodwork is all in nice shape, and the front panel etc. One knob is missing, but i haven’t gotten around to finding a replacement yet.
I’m pleased that the keyboard is now working- there wasn’t as much as i feared wrong with it. After soldering it back to the pcb (someone had seen fit to remove it in the past) it took me some time to get the horrible wire contacts working. Ive also removed a pretty poor attempt at a positive trigger, and neatened up a few more internal pieces.
It looks like its going to be a winter project to push it beyond its present 'working but ropey' state. The weather is too good at the moment not to be working on the landrover (see projects page) When the time comes, i shall be looking to modularise some of the sections, making sure not to alter the styling of the synth, or alter the way it performs without patch cables.

has Waveform Shaping, needs 12V for triggering. ADSR for VCA, AD for VCF. Mixing of all Waveforms, Mod by Noise/ S/H possible., Retriggering possible (Repeat). Simpel aber nicht übel, speziell ist das Waveform-Shaping, braucht 12V Triggerspannung. ADSR für VCA, AD für VCF.

This Company was a DIY Synthesiser (yes!) project of the ETI Magazine (Electronics Today International) those times. so it's not an ordinary "company". Btw. Powertran wasn't the same as ETI, but they were somewhat linked to it.
