The other reviewers have touched upon this unit's standard functions, so I will not go there. If you really want to use this unit and make it shine, you must use the keyboard control input on the back from a tiny (or large) keyboard. I use a tiny Casio Sa-5 for this function. Use the unit in A mode and keep all of your controls exactly midway. Put the RPS-10 last in your chain and take the output to your amp from the unit. Now, with a fresh set of 4 AA's inside of your SA-5, turn on the little kbd. and use the default sound (no adjustment or parameter setting needed) Start with the highest Kbd. C note: Tap it once and you get an octave above for your guitar; go to the G note below that highest C and tap it and you will get the Trevor Rabin (YES) sound; go to the C below that G (tap) and you will be at an octave below. This setup will give you instant control of the best pitch and harmonics possible. She will tune up great and track good, also. Try it, you will love it!
Sound Quality: 10
The sound you get from using the setup mentioned above is incredible.
I normally keep this on the octave above (using the Kbd. trigger from the above setup: highest C note)) setting whenever I do my funk-fusion routines. I use a Yamaha 321 guitar, so I can bend plucked harmonics and occasionally send notes for a dive with the whammy bar.
This was an inexpensive guitar, but it has a lot of high end especially when using the bridge "humbucker." I normally use a Boss super overdrive (SD-1)for pure signal boost. I use different amps and they all sound great with this combination, as long as the amp is not some Muddy-Mesa booger.
