Very nice trance. My kind of music. BUT, the track has some MAJOR distortion! I don´t know what went wrong but the sound quality sucks very much. Like you recorded it all too loud, or in the mastering something got wrong in the end.
However, the track creatively is very cool. I liked it very much!

Is the distortion audible in both versions or only in one of them? In the original version are some in the higher frequencies because of a wrong mp3 encoder setting. Some others say that there is too much bass in the mix.

Could you please listen to this one and tell me if it's the same here?

It's a newer track (but with less carefullness, only beta). Maybe I'm having a problem with my monitors (nubert 360)

Thanks for the tip, already used it now, good feature!

It also helps if I look into my status bar if I move my mouse over a button because the links are in english! :)

No need to apologize, I think we all understand english pretty well. I can imagine you'll have a hard time reading the rest of the forum though 'cause it's all in dutch.

that's some high quality shit Nils, very well produced i think, but as Auxillary says of the distortion, i think you pushed the master signal over the max of 0db (as well as my signal says).

(it could be the mp3 compression, or the way you maximized the tracks.)

but in a way, i like a hard produced track with some distortion at the end (it can give you that in your face sound) :)

That other track sound a lot better in quality. No distortion at all. So it was the mp3 encoding, hehehe!

Auf deutch order english? :)

Damn! That's a 'geil' track. ;)
Very commercial, but that's your aim as you told us.

Very much love the sound. It all fits quite well together.
And the clipping? Just cut it down a little bit and you're out of the reds. ;)
And this mix has just a little more 'magic' than your other two newer songs. The sound is very clean yet strong and distinctive enough.

Vielleict sollst du niederlandisch lehren um uns etwas besser zu begreifen. ;)

by the way, are you the same nils as from the waldorf mailing list??

Yepp, that's it :)

Maybe I know the problem now. There is a very high noise sound in the track, that's also quite loud. Because my mp3 codec was set up wrong he "optimized" the parts. The codec tried to optimize so that all frequencies are audible as good as possible. But those high frequencies...The codec didn't know how to handle them and it coded very badly. I'll take care of that in the future and I also will take care of my loudness maximizer! ;)

Well I did some microscopic research and found out that at 4:00 till 5:00 the bass is too much so it clips extensively. That's a non fixable problem. You need to fix that in the mix. And on the whole the bas is just a tiny bit too much. Or put some more compression on it so it keeps tight. And as to the stereo image of the mix. That's to much. You might be getting phase problems on cheapo stereo sets. So cutting back on some of the surround/exciting FX might help you there.

Nonetheless I made some adjustments just to see how the sound could be surgically changed. Not to be a smartass, just to examine the whole mix. (the members are used to that by now ;) ) It's now tight as hell (broadcast mix) and I put a 30Hz high pass filter at the end of it to cut down the subharmonics that otherwise would have got me into trouble. And it's not pefect, but interesting I reckon.

Hey this is quite good! Would you tell me which Attack/Release settings and compressors you used or is this secret? ;)

Nils
