Hardcore Kicks with long synth decay? (tommyknocker\Art of fighters)

Im not totally new to producing hardcore and can made some good kicks using my Virus C, Microtonic and Sherman Filterbank 2

But this style of kick i just cant get right... :confused:

this example is a Tommyknocker track, but ive heard these style of kick done by many producers. Art of fighters always use this style too

I can tell the kick is made of layers, the short punchy layer is not a problem

I just cant get the long decay right, im sure its from a synth but ive tried many combos of waveforms and distortion. none have the same result im looking for

Can anyone help?

I'm kinda new to the hardcore scene so I can't really help you...

I'm dieing for the answer too ...
But I think it's a synth (so I think you're right)

In Tommyknocker - Finally... At around 1:00 he throws in an explosion...
Like a kick with one hell of a sustain! The sustain is around 10 seconds...

This can only be done with a synthesizer for sure...
(or maybe not :p)

The virus is an incredible bassdrum synth anyway. You can freak a lot with it and can get a huge range of sounds out of it.

Just try to get the not distorted long decay sound from the A1 track you mentioned first. Listen to some TR808 samples and see if you can recognize and recreate the long decay.
After you've got that sound right feed it through a filter and/or distortion and you'll be in the right direction. Also try distorting it on your mixer if that's possible.

It's a matter of ongoing trial and error, every time learning till you've got the clue.

You've got the right tools anyway but getting a bassdrum punchy and with a long nice decay is delicate. Once you have it and touch whatever parameter it might be gone and you can start again.

reignofchaos - Yes i know that part of "finally" im sure that 10 second sustained kick is coming from a synth.
In fact i think it was resampled and put into Kontakt Sampler
Ive heard tommyknocker and many other artists use the Kontakt timestretch to create those really long sustains on kicks - theres one at around 2:30 of that track
