"We want to find as much new, fresh and exciting music as possible and distribute it freely to the world. The main thing for us is to get good music (regardless of genre) out there and into the hands of as many people as possible. We will achieve this by promoting our artists in the media, to DJs and by organising free events and by involving ourselves in as many festivals as possible. We do not intend to sell any music - EVER - and therefor we shall generate income for our artists through web advertising, music publishing and donations. None of our artists will be bound by a contract which means that once they have developed enough exposure to create interest from other label willing to sell their music and make them millionaires, they are free to leave at any time.
We are based in Glasgow, and the main thrust of our initial opperations will be in Scotland and the across UK, however we will take on artists from anywhere in the World. It is well known that Scotland has a massive wealth of creative talent, and it is our intention to bring that talent to the fore-front and set it free.
We are not intending on being another 'Myspace' or 'Garageband' type site. We will work for our artists to help push them forward and promote them. We don't want to be a passive site who takes credit for the work of others. We want the label to help the artists, not the artists to help the label. It is vital that new music is promoted properly, and the current internet model of self-promotion is not working for all artists. Our sollution is for the old style record label to evolve and embrace the sharing based internet culture.
It was our initial intention to setup the label for the 'Tunese Whispers' collaboration concept, but we have decided that this can go much, much further. If you are an artist who is interested in sending us some music, you can send it to us through soundcloud (http://soundcloud.com/groups/emancipated-records). As we are still in the process of setting things up we don't have our own site as yet, however this will follow pretty soon.
