hello,
the a106/1 is great when it comes to
filtering of drumloops. especially when
two a106/1's are available to form a
filter secion like in the ms20, things
can get very interesting. in the following
example i used a classic amen break at
around 165 bpm. the loop was fed into an a119,
from there into two a106/1's patched
in series, much like in the korg ms20 filter
section. the a119 env follower was split with a
multiple and sent to the polarized cv inputs of
both a106/1 (inverted cv for the highpass).
this increases the bandwidth of the bandpass
according to the input level. then an a132
dual vca was patched into the feedback loop
of both a106/1's to obtain voltage-control
of the resonance.
the loop repeats eight times, each time with
different settings for highpass cutoff, highpass
resonance, lowpass cutoff and lowpass resonance.
(pre-programmed with two a155 sequencers. the a155
slew times were set to a very high amount to obtain
a smooth transition between the different settings).
the cl+ control of the highpass was set around +5,
all the other clipping controls were set to zero.

the second recording is only a small snip with the same
amen break, but with more extreme settings, especially
the resonance was very high. also all the clipping controls
were set to a high amount. the output was so loud that
i had to reduce the recording level here.
