Het is vermoedelijk geen tape sync maar sync pulsen.
Maar omgekeerd zou ik willen zeggen: niet iedereen heeft alles midi clock... zeker niet als je een analoge setup hebt.
Of hij "plug and play" is, is voornamelijk afhankelijk van je setup. Nee, je prikt hem niet zo in je computer, maar daar is de gemiddelde analoge synth ook niet voor bedoelt. Ik kan hem wel zo "plug and play" aan mijn MFOS sequencer gok ik, dus voor mij is hij heel erg plug and play
Midiclock is helemaal niet zo gangbaar in analoog-land. De meeste analoge sequencers werken met sync pulsen.

Inderdaad, het is maar net hoe je setup opgebouwd is. Jij hebt een MFOS sequencer om hem mee te syncen, ik niet, ik zou het anders op moeten lossen. Kom er ook wel, daar niet van. Maar niet plug and play zonder dingen op te offeren.
Ik denk daarom dat het een misser is van Korg om de unit niet te voorzien van ook een midi input om midi clock te ontvangen.
Met zo'n unit richt je je toch op het lagere segment? Om het voor iedereen compatible te houden had het handig geweest.
Ik denk dat er meer mensen zijn die iets hebben aan een midi clock input dan aan sync pulsen om de unit mee te laten lopen, als ik voor de gemiddelde muziekant mag spreken zonder dure analoge gear.
Ik snap dat midi clock niet gangbaar is in oud analoog, maar waarom niet de technieken erin verwerken zodat de unit overal in te integreren valt zonder al teveel moeite.

Prijs. En MIDI-sync zou ook niet goed genoeg zijn, want dan willen we weer note-on/off kunnen zenden. En dan cutoff, lfo rate, etc. Dat kost natuurlijk direct een heel pak meer. Ik vermoed (lees: hoop) dat Korg binnen afzienbare tijd nog wel met een nieuwe, uitgebreidere, analoge bak zal aankomen.
En trouwens, off-topic, waarom is MIDI al niet 20 jaar geleden vervangen? Waarom met zo'n traag protocol blijven werken?

Wat een gaaf ding. Heerlijk basic. Er zit vast iets niet op, maar 'less is more' en leidt m.i. vaker tot creativiteit dan andersom (hoewel je deze redenatie ook kunt doodredeneren). Anyway, als Korg de prijs laag kan houden en het nog klinkt ook, is dit een topper!

Switch to the continuous mode (NARROW) for glides and bends - just as on the monotron. Also available is the wide continuous mode (WIDE) with a six-fold pitch range for dramatic synth zaps and screams. die zag ik nergens in je verhaal, en dat intereseert mij nl erg
omdat ik nu ervaring heb met een CV gemodde monotrut waar we zelf een uotput op hebben gesoldeerd
het geluid is daardoor erg zacht en veel minder ruis
maar als je er een CP-251, MF-102, tokai TCH-1(stereo out) 2 delays, 2 phasers en op een van de outs nog een flanger zet, heb je een instant drone/soundscape machine.

Ik vind dat eigenlijk zowel midi als cv weer andere voordelen biedt. Bij midi is het mogelijk om over 1 kabel meerdere gegevens te versturen over verschillende midisporen, maar cv heeft weer als voordeel dat je makkelijker kan combineren (LFO van de één, VCF van een ander etc).
