Little Phatty of Taurus, wat is het verschil?

Ik heb een Moog Little Phatty aangeschaft en ik wil 'm o.a. gebruiken voor vette Taurus-achtige sounds on stage. Nou vraag ik me af of de Phatty met een middelgrote PA net zo kan brullen als de Taurus, ik bedoel, zodat je je nieren voelt mee resoneren, zo laag. Thuis kan ik dat niet testen op mij KRK Rokits 6.

Of zijn de oscilatoren van de Taurus toch nog meer ingericht op laag?

dan kan je beter de Minitaur nemen, die gaat nog een stapje verder in het laag, de phatty is meer stoffige leads

Van wat ik ervan heb gehoord is de Minitaur een verrektesse goede kleine synthesizer die zich echt met z'n grote gebroeders Taurus kan meten, met een geluid dat helder en dof goed klinkt. Zeker weten dat die meer gromt dan je Phatty.

Toch ben ik benieuwd of iemand me kan uitleggen waar dat verschil met de Phatty dan aan ligt. Zijn het de oscilatoren?

De minitaur is gebaseerd op de Taurus, terwijl de Phatty gebaseerd is op de Voyager. Ik heb ze naast elkaar gehad en de minitaur gaat gewoon nog iets lager dan de Phatty, Phatty is daarentegen wel uitgebreider.


Waarom de Taurus lager gaat ligt gewoon aan het design. Om een stukje van de SOS review van de Taurus 3 te quoten:

"There have been innumerable debates regarding the source of the original Taurus’s sonic depth and quality, but this is now well understood. Part of the answer was revealed many years ago when someone explained that the outputs from the oscillators in the presets were not mixed equally, thus allowing the creation of huge, detuned sounds without the depth of phase cancellation (beating) that would have occurred had they been present in equal volumes. Another part of the answer lay in the level of the signal presented to the filter’s input. This overdrove the filter, compressing the signal and creating a mild distortion that warms the timbre, much like those glowing bottle thingies that guitarists love so much. t3 en minitaur gaan dieper / meer krachtig in het laag , dan de andere twee ( phatty en voyager )
heb ze alletwee geprobeerd en kan dat beamen.
ligt aan het design...
