EMU Eos 4.01

Hallo iedereen,

Omdat EMU sinds kort gestopt is met legacy support ben ik opzoek naar iemand die EOS 4.01 (dus niet 4.1) nog op een floppy heeft staan. Heeft iemand deze?

Hier staan nog downloads van EmusOnAcid , maar 4.01 staat er niet tussen..

Emus on Acid ligt er inderdaad helaas uit, dus dat gaat 'm niet worden. Vandaar dat ik hier een poging waag. Verder kan ik 4.1, 4.6 en 4.7 downloaden, maar die zijn te groot voor het flashram van de betreffende sampler. 3.00b zit er momenteel in.

Maar waarom zou je eigenlijk voor EOS 4.01 kiezen?
Volgens onderstaand verhaal is ook 4.01 te groot voor de standaard 1MB Flash ROM:

Big Flash
EOS versions 4.01 and higher are so much bigger than the earlier releases of EOS that it needs more space in Flash (or CPU) ROM than is available in non Ultra Emulators.
The existing 1MB SIMM needs to be replaced with a 2MB SIMM. This is ONLY available from E-mu Systems. It costs between $99 – $129 for the rack Emulators
(depending on whether you already have the EOS link software). It comes with the latest 4.xx software. The E4K upgrades are much more expensive at up to $595.
Check the E-mu Systems web site for details.If you have an Ultra, then you already have enough CPU ROM to run EOS 4.0+.


Bugs Life EOS 4.01 has bugs. E-mu Systems released EOS 4.02 in late 1999 to fix these. So you can only upgrade a pre-Ultra sampler to 4.02 or higher now.
If you have 4.01, you should plan to move to 4.02 or 4.10 (however it can be tricky to install!).

EOS Link The 4.01 Classic upgrade optionally includes the EOS Link software, if you need it.
