[eerlijk gezegd heb ik nog nooit een waslp gehoord aleen t doepfer clone filtertje duidelijk een totaal ander filter dan andere...sharp/raw [18 db /12 weetk ff niet]

eiegnlijk een heeeeel verschil [hope muchieoooo better!] asje kijkt naar de wasp
- kijk die pre midi kadi/ hoe heet dat...interface om meerder wasp ste interfacen zal me worst zijn,maar aldie xtras die elby erop doet - das wel lekker !
en idd de uitvinder van wasp is ook de designer van de oscar ook soort van waves / digi osc ...met heeeel eign karrakter [ik vindt de vst een vd beste around!]as die een beetje lijkt op zn baasje [de echte ] dan is dit ook en fatt bakske

The Wasp was a quirky little synthesizer that, despite its toyish look was quite capable of funky analog types of sounds. Under the hood the Wasp was a real surprise! It was actually a very early DIGITAL synth that also happens to sound great! With ANALOG filters, envelopes and controls, the Wasp offered flexible and traditional synthesis of cool bass, synth, and other useful monophonic sounds. It was used by 808 State, Dave Holmes, Vince Clarke, WhiteHouse and Add N to (X). It's designer, Chris Hugget, also designed the Oxford Synthesizer Company's OSCar Synthesizer.

The Pixie is a clone of the WASP that keeps the salient features of the WASP but replaces the
keyboard circuitry with a MIDI interface to provide a more flexible product. Also, to improve the stability of the design, the two 555-based VCOs and associated decoding ciruitry have been replaced with a dual-digital oscillator built on the Mitsubishi M16C.

Chris Huggett? In the same way that I had to go and get a proper job with E&MM and then Sequential to make a living, Chris eventually had to get a more reliable source of income. I put him in touch with Akai, for whom I was doing S900 sound development, and the next thing I knew he was writing the operating system for the new S1000. Chris worked for Akai behind the scenes on most of the sampler operating systems for more than 10 years until he grew frustrated with their refusal to let him work on the hardware design as well (with the Wasp and OSCar, he had of course done both). Having fostered Novation in its early days with help and advice, he eventually joined them full-time a couple of years back and is the guiding light behind the virtual technology of the Supernova. So a very British designer is once more working on a very British synth for a very British company.

I just added a Wasp Special to the studio, a bizarre mono from the late 70s...what an absolutely nasty-sounding synth. I love it! ^_^
The Wasp's filter design "abuses" digital inverters as if they were analog op-amps, leading to distortion, "grunge" and other "nasty" artifacts that define the specific sound of its filter, available in LP, BP and HP flavors...yummy.

Gisteren het pakket van Laurie binnengekregen. Alles bij elkaar (incl invoerbelasting etc) kostte het 900 euro voor 2 pixies. ik heb wel een wat lagere waarde op laten geven anders was daar nog zo'n 100 euro bijgekomen.

Ik hoop over een paar maandjes wat foto's van de afgebouwde synth te kunnen plempen hier.

het projekt is nog niet af maar wel flink in gang. solderen op de printplaat is gebeurd (en nu ik zie hoe pietepeuterig het allemaal moet ben ik erg blij dat ik het niet zelf heb hoeven doen).
er moet nog bedrading op, en dan in elkaar zetten.
behuizing blijft nog even onzeker maar komt wel goed.
