have something cool for you then. If you read Keyboard magazine, try to pick up the May 2004 issue. It has a whole section on a product that I am making called "Sonik Synth 2". In fact, it even alludes to a free version of it that you can download. It is months late in terms of availability but luckily it will be available at this point within a week or so. You'll be able to download it from the link in article which is
www.ikmultimedia.com/keyboardss2.html
The free version has some cool classic synth sounds including a great Arp Prosoloist fuzz lead and a nice Genesis-like Prophet 5 triangle pad plus some other great sounds for free.
Then there is an actual commercial boxed product that you'll be able to get all over the world in chain stores, on line shops etc. it is a workstation synth with a little of everything from pianos, guitars, bass, drums, orchestral instruments etc. But, of possible relevance here it happens to have almost every keyboard sound from classic Genesis 70's and 80's era. Maybe not ALL but it has close to all.
For example it has samples of:
Arp ProSoloist
Arp Quadra (I had Larry Carolton's... cool keyboard!)
Yamaha CS80, CP70 and even Frank Zappa's CP80 with tacks that I sampled when I was recording with L. Shankar (and Phil, Bono and the Edge overdubbed tracks on that record too but I don't know if he ever released it )
Prophet 10 (that was the one used on PF's The Wall)
Prophet 5 rev 1, 2 & 3
Hammond L102
RMI EP (and by the way, the plug-in has a modeled MXR phaser in it as well... convenient!)
Roland VP330 (the choir sound that Tony used after he stopped using the Mellotron live)
Mellotrons galore
I also used to do all of the Chamberlin and Optigan sampling for Crowded House and many other bands so there is a lot of that stuff in there too. It has a serious vintage sound collection inside which sounds like authentic 60's, 70's and 80's production as well as modern.
Sorry for plugging the plug here. At the very least you can get the free version when it is available. But, just in case you may FREAK over what has taken me about 10 years to collect and is now in one software instrument plug-in that works with your choice of ProTools, Sonar, Project 5, Cubase, Digital Performer, FruityLoops, Logic or any host sequencer that supports VST, RTAS or Audio Units (including the free Garage Band from Apple)... I offer the information for just fellow Genesis fans. I haven't posted about this in ANY other band forum as I tend to discuss these things on music technology web sites. But, if just ONE Genesis fan is going to be happy to hear about this here then... I am glad to have bothered.
