I don't think it's safe to assume that any of this stuff will absorb sound.
All i'm sayig is that there's more to porous absorption than just fluffy stuff. Materials like mineral wool and melamine foams work becuase there are passages within the material that are accessible by air molecules. Many pillows, couches and things of this nature are not good absorbers.

Yes, and this needs to be hammered home again and again because too many people buy cheap foam, hear a difference, and wrongly conclude the difference was for the better.
> if it sounds good then as far as Im concerned its a result <
This opinion misses the fact that we learn to hear good audio with experience. Most people have no idea what a properly treated room even sounds like. I see "experts" all the time arguing about the imaging of one speaker versus another, when they don't even have absorption at the first reflection points. Without that, there can be no imaging at all. Likewise for so many people that have no idea what a room can sound like with real bass traps. Or how uniform absorption sounds versus cheap egg crates that absorb only high frequencies. Everyone can learn, and maybe you're already there. But based on the tone of your argument...

Interesting about the price of those cushions. £15. You can get probably 4 times as much rockwool for that price.
The rockwool will no doubt perform much better than the cushions volume for volume too.
This sounds like a case of someone doing something, getting excited at an improvement, adn then having the fun knocked ouy by smartasses ( us ) explaining that if it was done another way the results would be been MUCH BETTER and MUCH CHEAPER.
I suppose any improvement is good.
But £15 for a cushion that size with dubious acoustic properties is not good value or an optimum way of treating the room.
I paid under £15 for rockwool packs that were 1200mm x 600mm x 300mm. = 0.108m3
Those Cushions are 0.01755m3 ( Approx )
That's a 6.15 times difference ( not 4 as I oiginally guessed )
It's all a learning curve though Expensive at £120 though.
A quick question on here would have been free
