Het lijkt me zeker een leuk ding. Die presentatie en de demos zien er indrukwekkend uit. En voor iets meer dan 300 euro (AUS$495) toch ook wel goed geprijsd.

So is the sustainable competitive advantage that nations can gain from being first to attain a critical mass of expertise in exploiting such a disruptive innovation. The method for attaining such a critical mass of expertise – through funding a cluster initiative, aimed at developing a Porter Cluster – is also well-known. Likewise, the increasing importance of the Creative Class to the global economy has been well-documented.
It seems highly likely that Thumtronics’ discovery of the power of musical isomorphism, as embodied in the highly-expressive jammer’s button-field, could constitute such a disruptive innovation. If Australia can capture the economic benefits of this innovation through the rapid development of a music-centred Porter Cluster, then the benefits to the Australian economy could be significant.

Hier vind je een demonstratie. 'k Vind het persoonlijk maar een belachelijk ding eigenlijk.
In die video neemt die mens die dat ding bespeelt op het eerste gezicht een nogal onnatuurlijke houding aan... Volgens mij duurt het dan ook niet lang voor je last krijgt van RSI en dergelijke.
Trouwens zie je jezelf hier al mee optreden? Word je gewoon vierkant uitgelachen

Maar er zitten ook wel een aantal leuke dingetjes bij, bijvoorbeeld hoe de toetsenbordjes zijn ingedeeld. Voor de gemiddelde keyboardspeler natuurlijk waardeloos, want die kunnen het al, maar voor een nieuwe generatie best wel de moeite van het onderzoeken waard.
Verder moet je wel in je achterhoofd houden dat deze site voor beleggers en niet voor muzikanten is bedoeld. De muzikanten, en vooral het muziekonderwijs, worden pas over een jaar benaderd.

Trouwens, Isomorphism wordt op gewone klavieren ook gebruikt! Iedereen weet dat een C akkoord dezelfde greep is als het F akkoord en het G akkoord. Helaas zijn D, A en E weer anders... Dit keyboardje zorgt ervoor dat alle twaalf de majeur akkoorden gelijke grepen zijn. Zo ook alle mineur, zeven, majeur-zeven en verdere akkoorden ook. Alleen bestond dit systeem al op de piano, het Janko klavier, alleen dat was rete duur...

Does the Thummer(tm)-Brand Jammer Produce Sound?
No, it does not produce any sound by itself. It must be connected to a personal computer (Mac, Wintel, or Linux) — via the prototype's included USB cable — to interpret its player's actions and generate musical sounds. This is very similar to an electric guitar, which needs a separate amp to produce useful sound. Future versions of the Thummer(tm)-brand jammer may include internal music synthesizers, but even then, the Thummer(tm)-brand jammer is so small that it has no room for high-quality speakers, so it would still require an external amp (or headphones).
Is the Thummer(tm)-Brand Jammer MIDI-Compatible? Is it OSC-Compatible?
It is MIDI-compatible through its host PC. The prototype emits a huge volume of raw control data. An application on the host PC interprets this raw data and emits it using standard musical data protocols such as MIDI (Musical Instrument Device Interface) and — in future — a OSC (Open Sound Control). These protocols are understood by most PC-based software synthesizers and dedicated hardware synthesizers ("sound modules") from a wide variety of manufacturers. The PC can send MIDI data to external sound modules that only "understand" MIDI. Therefore the Thummer(tm)-brand jammer prototype is as compatible with MIDI and (in future) OSC as is the host PC itself.

ik kan me niet voorstellen dat beleggers wél zo'n verhaal geloven
anyway, verklaart in ieder geval wel waarom deze info op site staat

De actie is gewoon dat ze aan de Australiërs de primeur en daarmee de voorsprong willen geven, dus als het aanslaat hebben zij al alle software in de handel, etc.
Maar ik heb het een beetje doorgelezen en ze geven toe dat ze eigenlijk geen nieuw systeem hebben uitgedacht (al bekend van Janko en knoppen-accordeons) en het is een grappige Midi Controller via de computer en lekker goedkoop
Die site is eigenlijk voor de grootste belleger geschreven, namelijk het stadsbestuur, die er geld in gaat pompen. D'r zal wel een klein fabriekje met werknemers moeten komen.
Ook heb ik uitgevonden op welke dagen er gespoten wordt in de omliggende meren om de muggenplagen tegen te gaan. No way dat ik daar ga werken

Niet van mijn kant, maar op kleinere schaal zou er best nog wel eens een Nederlandse synth kunnen komen. Per slot zitten er hier in Den Haag wel een paar slimme jongens. Het zal dan wel een analoge synth worden...

Ik zou het nooit kopen als ik vergelijk wat ik wel niet meer met 300euro kan doen.
