Oscar problem

My beloved OSCar has locked up.....
1..I will change the battery.
2..Check for bad contacts ect.
Can anyone give more advice on what else I should try...?

You should let a technican have it replace all sockets and connectors.
So almost rebuild the machine again.
That is about the only and best solution there is.

Yup...This is something I am now going to do. I quite enjoy restoring synths.
I was hoping to get as much info of other members esp if they have also worked
on OSCars....The design leads itself towards problems, I shall also move the midi
board under the main pcb and of course the connector to the left looks likely to
cause problems.
Other thoughts welcom..

I think you should contact Boemtsjak or Saint Eric about this, they are experienced with Oscar restauration and repairing.

yep .. so don't buy it unless it's a complete rebuild

I don't know about a rebuild, There are only 3 connector culprits in the synth.
I have cleaned and resoldered some connections and now it works great.
I may in the future find a long term solution, at this point it works and I know where
these problems occur.
The flexi nature of Oscar is it's downfall but as long as you keep it steady and use it
at regular periods..It should last(I hope)
