Ik verwacht dat de vergelijking met het verschil tussen de tb303 en de x0xb0x wel op zijn plaats is.

In real-live heb ik de mb808 nog niet gehoord, maar verwacht toch wel dat ie de tr808 goed gaat evenaren.

Dat doet de Mb808 zeker. Heb de MB naast een 808 gehoord. Vond persoonlijk de Mb808 mer helder (zuiver) klinken, kan ook te maken met nieuwe componenten. De midibox sequencer geeft ook nog veel mogelijkheden extra.

Batch Three (Current Batch)

Well, despite good intentions, I have failed to meet my self-imposed deadline of the end of the year. I won't bore you with details other than to say work and family come first before hobby projects, but suffice it to say that I'll get batch three done as soon as I can. After all batch three kits are shipped, I'll get to work on the fourth batch.
Over the three+ years that I have been working on the MB-808, I have steadily pulled back from my involvement in any other projects, and I have reduced my involvement in online communities. As of December 28, 2012, I am now ceasing all involvement with any and all forums, mailing lists and newsgroups. Specifically, I will no longer respond to posts on the Electro-Music forum. Please don't taint their good forum and expect me to take my time to reply. I need to devote what little time I have to finishing this project. The only place to get information about the MB-808 project is this web site and via email directly to me. (Doug at midibox addict dot com.)
If you have given me a deposit and you really don't like how things are going, please let me know and I will give you a refund.

October 1, 2013. Apparently someone is quoting my updates on at least one forum (thanks, I think...). I was messaged about the contents of one thread in particular, so I thought I'd post my reply:

Thanks for the query. Yes, it's been quite the journey! Nothing like I had planned. Sigh...
It's funny that the two people you quote complaining about me aren't even on the MB-808 list. That's a big part of the reason that I stopped cruising the forums. I don't mind answering questions and complaints from people who order from me, but there seems to be a huge group of people who just want to climb on the complaint bandwagon. Reminds me of that scene in Airplane when everyone lines up to beat on the female passenger who is freaking out...
Anyway, to answer your specific questions:

1. As far as I know, Paypal has no email list management facilities, and they don't have a way to link transactions together with any kind of annotations. (e.g. I can't annotate a deposit with the note, "refunded 1/1/2012" or the like. I gave one guy his deposit back twice and I want to avoid that happening again.) Also, I made a strategic mistake of combining the 808 transactions in with my own personal account. In other words, I haven't found a way to ask paypal to give me a list of all email addresses of just the people who have given me deposits and I can't even ask paypal to give me a list of just those transactions, so I downloaded everything into Excel and split it all out manually. Probably just good bookkeeping practices and I should have a backup anyway...
2. I have kept all the email messages I have received pertaining to the MB-808. As of October 1, 2013, I have just under 2000 total messages, with 147 of them unread. I'm going through them in date order.
3. Most messages I receive are of the "is it too late to get on the list" variety. There have been some complaints of course, but there have only been three people who have actually offered help. A couple of them asked about buying the entire project from me. When I told them how much money I had invested, that was pretty much the end of it; nobody has even made a bid. One guy has offered to help fund the next batch; I may take him up on that. The most promising thing was a gentleman from China who wanted to produce kits, but because of the MIDIbox copyright, that was/is not possible.
4. Yes, I am the guy who bought the Stooge Panel business after Larry Hendry died. That business is on hold until I finish the 808 kits. (Yet another reason I am anxious to have this done with.)

So, just for fun, the next time someone complains on a forum or list, please ask them if they are actually on the list or not...

(Last night) Yay, it's the end of the fiscal year. No more deployments! Hopefully the whole government doesn't shut down, but if they do, well, that will finally give me a chance to catch up on things. Tonight I spent some time on the phone with paypal, so I finally have the account completely downloaded and reconciled. Next, I'm going to catch up on email. I'm sure there are a couple people I owe answers to, so please bear with me just a but longer. I don't have any more trips scheduled for the rest of the calendar year, and with the kids both away at college now I should have evenings and weekends back.

Next Steps

• Get through my email and notes and make sure I have everything up to date.
• Give the refunds that have been asked for.
• Finalize batch four list and standby list.
• Start packing kits.
• Once I make sure that kits are correct and ready to ship, send out invoices.
• Build another kit myself and document completely.
• Set up new forum or email list for build support.

Yes, the MB-808 web site is offline. No, the project has not died or disappeared. Moogah didn't pay the web hosting bill and he changed the password so I can't login and pay it myself. I sent him an email message about it and will take care of things as soon as I can.

Quick Status Update

As far as I know, I have processed all refunds that were requested in 2013. I have two refund requests to process from this year. (Yes, requests from batch four have been moved up in the queue.) If you'd like a refund, please ask now, as I will be processing shipments next month (March) and will be asking for final payment then.

Ik zou wegblijven van het MB808 project. Op het midibox forum zie je met enige regelmaat mensen die nog steeds niets ontvangen hebben. En het geld terug krijgen lukt ook niet.

Spijtig om te zien dat TR8060 gestopt is, ik had gehoopt dat Christian nog eens versie 1.16 van het pcb online zou zetten.
