Cytomic The Glue compressor

Van de software compressors die ik heb getest (veel freeware), ben ik niet van onder de indruk. Maar The Glue van Cytomic lijkt een uitzondering. Ik wil een compressor vooral op mijn drumbus en over de mainmix gebruiken.
Mijn vraag aan jullie is: Wat vinden jullie van The Glue en wat vinden jullie andere goede software compressors?

En de freeware Density mkII (van Variety Of Sound) http://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/2009/08/28/density-mkii-released-today/
(check trouwens ook z'n andere freeware,errug goed spul)...

...beide goede buscompressors...

Maar lekkerst blijven UAD 4K Buscompressor en Precision Buss Compressor...ligt aan de track welke het best uitkomt...

Niet getest...ik heb al zo veel compressors...maar wel goede verhalen over gelezen...overigens wordt ie veel vergeleken met de (gratis) Density mkII...

Niet helemaal waar meer,sinds de PSP Oldtimer uit is...maar dat veranderd elke week op Gearslutz...

Wat is de link met een UAD VCA VU? Heel ander type toch, dat voor heel andere doeleinden gebruikt wordt...

ik heb de cytomic glue nu als demo, ben zeker te spreken over de klank. maar de interface vind ik niet handig. bijvoorbeeld: het veranderen van een parameter laat de waarde niet direct zien. pas als je de knop loslaat. een haperende meter is ook niet alles.

nu heb ik het idee dat er continu gewerkt wordt aan deze plugin, dus dat zal wel goedkomen...

Ik gebruik beide op kicks, de UAD ging al heel ver, maar met de Glue gaat het net allemaal nog iets dikker Ben erg te spreken over de übersnelle attack van die VST

Nog even dit...die "range" knop, ik vind het een mooi alternatief voor parallelle compressie. Bij lage standen komen de transients beter uit, maar wat die "range" knop nou precies doet? Hier volgen wat citaten:

The Range knob affects both the way attacks sound and also limits the total depth of compression to give a more natural sound. The range set at full is good for limiting applications or if you want loads of pumping when using an external sidechain signal of a kick drum on a synth. Try overcompressing a sound with a severe setting with the Range konb on full, then reduce the Range to around -20 or -10 dB and listen to the difference

When I modeled a few analog compressors I noticed a difference in transient sounds than my initial models which was especially evident with long attack times. The sound of the analog units was more natural sounding on the attacks than my models and I wanted to know why. I tracked down what it was and worked out how to give end users control of the depth of it: the Range knob was born!

Q: What is the difference between Makeup and Range?
A: The Makeup knob is a final volume control to increase the level of output signal and Makeup for the volume reduction caused by compression. The Range knob controls the maximum gain reduction that is applied to the signal, and its effect is quite evident on the sound of attacks as these are the largest signal. This same limiting is applied in analog circuits but you usually have no control over it. It is very useful for mastering and other subtle compression where you would previously be forced to use a parallel compression with a wet / dry knob. The Range knob, to me, is the most useful feature added to The Glue that is not in the original.

Q: How do I make the most of the Range knob?
A: When you want to back off how much compression is being applied, but still react to the initial bite of a sound you can use the Range knob. This effects both makes the attacks more natural sounding, and also limits the total depth of compression that is applied. This really helps limit how much the compressor dives when using ultra fast attack times. It gives a completely different sound to using parallel compression via the Mix knob, so next time you want to soften how much compression is applied try setting the Range knob to around -20 dB and listen to the stunning results!

Eigenlijk nog meest een remake van de waves ssl 4000 plugin dus..

Je moet deze eens gebruiken voor parallele compressie op je eindbus.
