Hoontech DSP2000 ervaringen

grrrrrrrrr.........nou lees ik weer dat de DSP2000 zodanige componenten heeft dat ie niet echt effectief de mogelijkheden van 24bits 96KHz kan gebruiken maar gewoon meer 16 bits kwaliteit blijft......lastig...ik zag dat de Delta1010LT (die met de losse kabels) 40 euro duurder is dan de DSP2000 en ongeveer dezelfde mogelijkheden biedt..
kan iemand me vertellen of er veel verschil in kwaliteit zit tussen de DSP2000 en de 1010LT (die is dus wel anders dan de 1010) ...ze hebben wel dezelfde DAC's maar het zit em geloof ik in de andere componenten..

Testing the audio quality of the Hoontech, my overall impression was one of respectable, if unremarkable, audio performance. Comparisons with the Yamaha DSP Factory/AX44 breakout box combination (the latter featuring 20-bit converters) that was already in the test PC consistently showed the background noise levels of the Hoontech to be 2-3dB higher than on the Yamaha, whether using the unbalanced or the balanced analogue inputs. In addition, with the monitoring level turned up and no signal present, the analogue outputs of the Hoontech were noticeably noisier than those of the AX44. Given that the Hoontech system boasts 24-bit converters, this might seem a little disappointing, but it must be born in mind that it provides quite a lot of hardware at a pretty low price point. The best-quality analogue circuitry comes at a price and, while Hoontech's converters themselves may be well specified, it is perhaps understandable that some of the other components within the rack or the shielding on the PCI card are not off the top shelf. Given the price, this unit is clearly being targeted at the home studio user and, in that context, where the benefits of the whole package have to be considered, its audio performance is likely to be perfectly acceptable
There is no doubt that Hoontech's Soundtrack Audio DSP 24 and ADC/DAC2000 system provides a very flexible range of I/O configurations. The drivers appear to be very stable and the low latency values achievable via the ASIO 2.0 drivers make it very suitable for use with software synths and samplers. The system also appears to work quite well with a range of popular audio software. The audio quality is perhaps not exceptional but, given the range of hardware features provided at what is a modest price, this is hardly surprising. The Hoontech simply represents a different balance between quality and quantity than, for example, some of the other 24-bit/96kHz soundcards currently available, which tend to provide only stereo in/stereo out connectivity.
Hoontech would appear to be pitching this system at the home studio owner. For such a person needing to record multiple inputs (perhaps with enough basic microphones to record a full band performance) rather than just mono or stereo overdubs, achieving the highest audio quality is unlikely to be absolutely critical. Flexibility, reliable performance, low latency and low cost would therefore make the Hoontech well worth considering.

in het kort: iemand had em getest en de dynamiek was em erg tegengevallen, maar het blijkt dat de test-resultaten voldoen aan de specs van de gebruikte DAC's

hmm, sja.. maar vallen de DAC's dan tegen of stelde de desbetreffende persoon te hoge eisen?
Volgens jou zijn op de Delta44 dezelfde DAC's gebruikt?
En als je dit allemaal leest, ga je 'm alsnog bestellen? Mijn duits is nl. niet meer wat het geweest is.

ja de persoon in kwestie stelt te hoge eisen...zijn meetresultaten kwamen nl overeen met de resultaten van de meeste kaarten met die DAC's...zijn idd dezelfde als in de delta44 en delta66....al geloof ik wel dat de delta ietsje betere componenten eromheen gebruikt waardoor de dynamiek ietsje beter is...volgens mij bij A/D conversie haalt de DSP2000 rond de 95dB en de Delta iets van 98dB....maar dat maakt voor semi-pro niet zoveel uit lijkt me...
verder kan het nog voor je uitmaken dat de delta reeks kan switchen tussen -10 en +4 dBU en de DSP2000 alleen -10 dBU heeft.....ligt eraan wat voor apparatuur je hebt..de meeste semipro is op -10 of kan switchen tussen beide..
ik denk dat ik em wel ga bestellen..als het tegenvalt kan ik gewoon binnen 30 dagen terugsturen naar thomann

ik heb ook een hoontech dsp2000 c-port en ben erg tevreden over de geluidskwaliteit al ben ik van mening dat mijn computer er veeeeel en veeel trager van wordt. ik heb nu een p3 800 met 512 mb intern geheugen maar heb vaak last van dat hij ''overslaat'' of gaat ''hakkelen'' daarom ben ik ook van plan om een p4 te kopen. verder is de kaart heerlijk soms een beetje irritante software.(omschakelen tussen 44 khz en 96 khz)
Ik kom hier inderdaad enkele problemen tegen die ik ook op mijn weg heb gevonden.
Ik ben ook een trotse bezitter van een C-Port en het viel me al op dat onder Reason ik zat met kraken en piepen e.d. onder 96 khz (ongeacht de latency)
In Cubase kan ik zonder problemen op 96khz runnen zonder dat het direct invloed heeft op mijn CPU.
Verder ben ik absoluut tevreden over mijn kaart,..

Hoontech is tegenwoordig van ESI. Nieuwe drivers zijn in ontwikkeling.
