love my Blofeld too, it sounded awesome before it mysteriously started having output issues. (Zero headphone output and insanely low main output)
So I sent it in for the extended warranty I got from American Musical. The warranty company couldn't fix it completely, so they sent it to Germany for a new mainboard. It's been gone for almost two months now and no ETA on getting it back.
I'm not sure how this happened, dirty power at a club, power surge at home, static?
I was going to put a fuse in mine, but after I examined the circuit I decided not to bother. the main output is served by a 5532 opamp, & there's something slightly more substantial for the headphones, which I've always found to be a bit hissy. anyway, the supplied psu is an smpsu, & the 12V goes via the link onto these chips & nowhere else. so unless the power supply suddenly goes mad & puts out more than 18V, there wouldn't be a problem. & if it did, it would fry the internal supply for the DSP.... no, the link is really there to protect the smpsu from one of the audio amps failing, not the other way round.
There is an original 6.8 ohms smd resistor, this part can be damage. If it is, you MUST change the resistor to a 4.7/6.8 resistor max. 1/4w!
If you bridge the resistor, the audio out parts can be burn down. This resistor works also as a fuse.
So, you can try this, but do not bridge it.
